This design charrette for young professionals in Chicago is a collaboration among the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, Luminarts Cultural Foundation, and Emerging New Urbanists. Together we will engage in an analysis, design, and presentation process for a new vision for the Magnificent Mile in Chicago, as a counter-proposal to recent visioning projects between Oak Street Beach and the Chicago River.
This educational exercise will emphasize placemaking, respect of history and context, and human-scale design. The charrette will take place across four full days, September 25–28, and will culminate in a public presentation of the design work on Saturday, September 28, from 6:00–8:00 PM at Glessner House.
The presentation will be followed by a wine reception, offering an opportunity to engage with team members, explore drawings, and connect with fellow attendees.
